While at Guggenheim, Robinson saw first-hand that institutional investment management is typically reserved for corporations, the ultra-wealthy, and no one else. He wanted to take the middlemen, who charge high fees and are looking out for their own bottom line, out of the equation.
Before pivoting to a career in software, Morgan studied finance. He knew enough about investing to know that he could do better than the passive investment apps or a financial advisor at a big bank.
Robinson saw the problem from a bird’s eye view: that the everyday investors didn’t have access to high-quality investing. Morgan saw the problem from the ground floor—he knew his investment options were lacking.
In 2016, with funding from leaders in the institutional investment space, investgem was born to give hard-working professionals a better way to invest.
investgem was founded by a financier and software engineer who were fed up with the generic investment platforms out there.
They wanted to build an investment platform they’d actually use. They started investgem.
Robinson worked on a portfolio management team at Guggenheim Partners that managed over $10 billion in fixed income strategies. His background also extends to investment banking and advisory.
Fun fact: Robinson was born in South Africa and has a dog named Wally that comes to the office every day.
Morgan is an experienced product leader who previously worked as a software engineer at Bridg. He’s worked in a variety of industries, from health technology to real estate finance.
Fun fact: Morgan hiked the John Muir Trail and had to evacuate due to one of the largest forest fires in California history.
